Advisory Board

The Sven Lovén Centre for Marine Sciences is run by the University of Gothenburg and administered through the Faculty of Science at University of Gothenburg. The management team consists of director, administrative manager and controller.

At The Lovén Centre there is also an Advisory Board, tasked to advise the director and the vice-chancellor of the University of Gothenburg regarding activities at the Centre and its future development, with particular focus on the following areas:

• analysis and visions regarding future infrastructure needs
• link between research and infrastructure development
• development of the centre’s infrastructure and its financing
• participation in national and international infrastructure programs
• focus on priorities between education and research at the centre
• focus on priorities between scientists who work at the centre year-round, temporary local users and visiting research

The Advisory Board shall be composed of:

• one external member, appointed by vice-chancellor of the University of Gothenburg, chairman
• three members appointed by vice-chancellor of the University of Gothenburg, which shall be two user representatives (that is scientists active at the marine field stations) and one person with management function at the University of Gothenburg, with responsibility for the infrastructure
• two members appointed by The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences
• one member appointed by vice-chancellor of Stockholm University
• one research officer, who functions as secretary of the board and connects to research services at the University of Gothenburg
• one representative from the marine educational program at the University of Gothenburg

The scientists in the Advisory Board shall have complementary skills relevant to activities at the centre.

During the term 2012-01-01 – 2014-12-31 the Advisory Board has the following composition:

• Peter Tiselius, Department of Biology and Environmental Sciences – Kristineberg, University of Gothenburg;
• Lars Arneborg, Department of Earth Sciences, University of Gothenburg;
• Stefan Hohmann, Deputy Dean, Faculty of Science, University of Gothenburg (until 2012-09-30).
• Dan-Eric Nilsson, Department of Biology, Lund University;
• Sif Johansson, Director, Mistra Council for Environmental Evaluation.
• Ulrika Hjelm, Secretary of the Advisory Board; Research secretary, University of Gothenburg.
• Nils Kautsky, Department of Systems Ecology, Stockholm University.
• Sten-Åke Wängberg, Department of Biology and Environmental Sciences, University of Gothenburg.
   

The Advisory Board meets four times per year.
